About The Artist

Faye Vander Veer is an accomplished Virginia artist with a desire to create paintings that invite the viewer to step inside and share the experience. Inspired by the works of John Singer Sargent and a love for painting, she knew at an early age that she had a passion for interpreting the world around her through oil paintings.

Her paintings create a poetic space that slowly draws you in. You can see the atmosphere enveloping each part of the painting and feel the warmth that moves over the surface, producing form and revealing and describing individual textures. She achieves a great sense of realism, not by including every detail, but by underemphasizing some details and omitting others altogether. Her loose and active brushwork contributes to the energy of her paintings.

Faye resides and paints in a lovely wooded setting in Virginia Beach and is in her studio daily. Much of her inspiration comes from her travels. "Painting is something I have to do," she expresses. "It's constantly on my mind. Whenever I look at something, one of my first thoughts is, how will this work as a painting?"

The secret of her success is constant study and practice. She received her formal training at The Cape Cod School of Art, The Scottsdale Art School and The Kello Academy of Traditional Oil Painting.

Her paintings are in private and corporate collections throughout the country and abroad. Her work may also be seen by appointment at her studio.
